Ben moves for friendship
“My favourite part of playing hockey is being with my friends in the dressing room and trying to score a goal on the ice.”
Ben McKenzie loves hockey for the joy that lives inside a team, from the dressing room to the bench songs. The game is fast, fun, and full of friendships that grow every season.
Ben McKenzie’s hockey story is stitched together with teammates, speed, and small moments that feel big. He loves the energy of the sport and the people who share it with him.
Ben is clear about what matters most. “It’s fun and I get to make good friends,” he says. That fun shows up most during games. “Games are more fun,” he says, and adds a detail that says everything about team spirit. “We get to sing and cheer on the bench,” he says.
He loves the social world around the rink as much as the action on the ice. “My favourite part of playing hockey is being with my friends in the dressing room,” he says, then shifts to what he chases once the game starts. He likes “trying to score a goal on the ice,” he says. The skills he enjoys are specific too: skating fast, competing for the puck, and challenging opponents.
Some of his best memories are tied to family rituals. “Getting a chocolate milkshake from my Dad whenever I score a goal,” is one of his favourite rewards. It turns effort into celebration and makes the sport feel even more personal.
Ben also stays active beyond hockey. He takes swimming lessons and goes skiing, building confidence across seasons. The hardest part of sport is simple and honest. “Losing,” he says, is his least favourite part. Even then, the friendships keep him returning.
Ben doesn’t move for a perfect record. He moves for the people beside him, the fun in the game, and the friendships that keep him coming back.
