Madhu moves for community
“Challenges bring with them... the art of excelling under stress... And, when it’s all done, it’s really not about swimming”
With its unpredictable winds and currents, Chile’s Strait of Magellan is challenging for ships to navigate. To swim the Strait’s frigid, turbulent waves in only a Speedo, swim cap and goggles is nothing short of incredible. Because for Madhu, making the impossible feel possible is what it’s all about.
”It’s the people. The ones who stay calm under pressure. Who show up for each other. That’s the real reward.”
He has swum the English Channel, conquered Lake Ontario and completed the Marathon des Sables, a six-day ultramarathon in the Sahara.

“These challenges bring with them a unique group of people who are not only great human beings, but have the art of excelling under stress. They have the ability to be selfless, to keep the training safe and achieve goals. And, when it’s all done – it’s really not about swimming.”
Madhu moves for community. After conquering demanding conquests around the world, he has introduced hundreds of people to the beauty of swimming in our local lakes, and works with Great Lakes Open Water Adventures (GLOW), Great Lakes Trust, SwimDrinkFIsh and supporting scientific research and civic engagement.
