Victor and Francia move for love
“Their love has left an indelible mark on my life... exercising together is a sign of their commitment to each other.”
Victor and Francia believed in moving through life together, hand in hand. Through daily walks, gentle exercise, healthy habits, and care for each other, their story shows that movement can be an expression of love, commitment, and lifelong health.
Victor and Francia believed in moving through life together.
Their grandson Patrick remembers them as active people who cared for their health and for each other. Victor stayed mobile well into his 80s, beginning each day with squats and crunches. Francia found her own path to movement later in life, building healthier habits with determination.
At 75, Francia worked with a personal trainer, lost more than 30 pounds, and drastically improved her health. Patrick shared that she hoped to be an inspiration to anyone who thought it was too late to get healthy.
For Victor and Francia, movement was never about intensity or records. Their exercise was gentle, steady, and rooted in care. When the weather was mild, they made walking together a habit. They walked hand in hand, talking, bonding, and looking after each other along the way.
Their movement was shaped by lifelong health. Victor lived with diabetes, and Francia had a heart condition. They knew that staying active was good for their overall well-being, but the way they moved also revealed something deeper: commitment.
Even their evenings had rhythm. If card games count as activity, Victor and Francia stayed active in that way too, playing Rummy and All Fours every night. Their life together had rituals: walking, talking, moving, playing, caring.
The pandemic changed their routine by keeping them from travelling to warmer countries. They usually spent winters in Trinidad and returned in the spring. But their legacy of movement remained clear to Patrick.
Now that Victor and Francia are both gone, their example continues to inspire him. Their story lives on in the way he thinks about heart health, family, and the kind of love that is built through everyday acts of care.
“Their love has left an indelible mark on my life,” Patrick says. “Exercising together is a sign of their commitment to each other.”
Victor and Francia showed that movement can be simple and still deeply meaningful. A walk can be a ritual. A workout can be care. A shared routine can become a love story.
