Ambroise moves for strength and confidence
“On the spiritual aspect, weightlifting has given me the ability to believe in myself as an athlete. ”
Stevens-Paquette has set goals for herself showing determination and resilience as well as a steadfast courage to stay focused on the tasks at hand. The benefits of weightlifting to her are both physical and spiritual. Recently, she reflected on how the sport has benefitted her.
“I have benefited from weightlifting immensely, physically I have never been stronger in my life and more in shape. On the spiritual aspect, weightlifting has given me the ability to believe in myself as an athlete. I have always struggled with self-doubt in sports.
I still to this day do but weightlifting has helped me connect to my higher self and break down these self-doubts, fear and negative self-talk, and just believe in my abilities and how capable I am of doing this. “Also, when I train or (am) in the back warming up for my competition I get in touch with my spiritual side and do a bit of mindfulness. I tend to listen to drumming and Tribe Called Red music to really feel connected to my body and the lifts.”
