Ben moves for fun and frienship
“My favourite part of playing hockey is being with my friends in the dressing room and trying to score a goal on the ice.”
The number on Ben McKenzie's jersey may look familiar. That's because it's also the number on PK Subban's jersey. Ben has been lucky enough to meet PK, but his love for hockey was etched even earlier, when he first stepped onto the ice at the age of 5.
On the ice, Ben plays defense, because he likes nothing better than chasing down the other team's best players. Off the ice, Ben loves spending time with his friends on the U12 Leaside Flames Select Red Team. Each time they travel together to hockey tournaments, their bonds grow stronger and their confidence grows larger.
Occasionally his Dad gets on the ice with him for some fun. But when you look in Ben's eyes you can see he's looking toward the day he's surrounded by fellow NHL players, hearing the thunder of the crowd as he sprints across the blue line, chasing down his opponent.
In the meantime, Ben moves for fun and friendship.
